This pathway focuses on means for flood prevention and nutrient retention enhancement in urban areas and is divided into several groups of measures: urban planning, showing the importance of flood risks maps, local flood risk management schemes and proper housing development plans; tourism and recreational areas, showing the impact of these on nutrient flow and flood risk mitigation and functional diversity; flood protection infrastructure through construction of flood embankments; small urban retention infrastructure, focusing on investments related to construction of open and closed retention reservoirs; integrated improvement of storm runoff system (channels and pipes).
